Take a look at it over at Shapeways: http://shpws.me/HUIO
The Panda Medic below was the first print in the series. The print came out dusty with white powder still visible on the print but this was more than a year ago and Shapeways have made great improvements in their colored material finishing. It still amazes me how 3d printing works. Not to mention 3d printing with colour. Even though I've had many of my little sculpted characters printed in the past it just doesn't seem to get old. The latest little edition to my collection is this Armoured Panda Tank. It stands about 50mm high and looks great with the colors from the multi-color material. Take a look at it over at Shapeways: http://shpws.me/HUIO Here is what the 3d model looks like that I send off to Shapeways:
This is an old model that I wanted to do a texture pass on for a long time. I wanted to skip the time consuming process of setting up UVs and redoing topology to get it ready for rendering so I tried a new workflow. The new workflow allows me to export the model to Octane and then just do a quick projection map in there. I rendered out a few different versions and the rest of the image was Photoshop painting and the final image below is the end result.
This is the last monster from the Copenhagen Monsters collection, for real this time. I know I said the same thing about 2 paintings ago, but this time I mean it. As much fun as it is too paint these large critters I must move onto other things. As you can see this little guy is enjoying the sunshine near Copenhagen's Amalienborg Palace. Read more about the palace HERE.
This little fellow is part of a set of two characters who were designed many years ago. I previously posted an image of the two together and wanted to spend a bit more time on just this character called the mule. So here he is with a new texture pass and new rendering.
Link to original post: http://www.willdutoit.com/blog/duet-demon-hydra-on-a-bike The latest addition to the Copenhagen Monsters Collection, called Monster at The Lakes. This one has a gorilla-like beast with a turtle shell making his way slowly past the lakes in Osterbro, Copenhagen. So far the collection is 11 paintings strong with various parts of Copenhagen invaded by these large creatures. I have one more to do and then this collection will be complete.
This is an old character that started a series of suited Panda designs, see the previous Recon post in the link below. The suit is designed for a medical specialist that needs to remain unharmed while attending sick or injured soldiers and what better than a giant mechanical Panda to come and rescue you from a war zone.
Recon post:http://www.willdutoit.com/blog/final-beauty-renders-of-recon-character I had this idea for a drag racer that had the look of a charging bull, with horns down and ready to charge at full speed. This was the result.
I am very pleased that a friend of mine, with impeccable taste in artwork, has used one of my artworks for her latest tattoo.
Here they are with the original on top and the tattoo below. Continuing on from the previous posts about this character, I've finalized a character sheet for him.
This is the second entry in the collection of future green cities. This one is a little larger than the last with many more solar collectors and rooftop gardens spread throughout the city. There are also large cargo airships delivering goods from and to other similar cities.
I missed out on doing a retrospective last year so with my recent look back at 2014 I thought it was a good idea to take another look at all the artwork from 2013. So here it is for your viewing pleasure:
Another year has flown by. Looking back here are all the artworks that I have created over the last 12 months.
Happy new year to everyone. I hope you all had a restful festive season. I've started on a new collection of city paintings. Inspired by the many zero emission technologies available at present, this is an idea of what a small city could look like in the near future if it's infrastructure was designed with these technologies from the start.
The second images gives you a breakdown of the technologies being utilized. These are from my recent Croquis class, done with red charcoal. The one on the left is a 25 minutes portrait and one the right is a 2 minute sketch.
I'm working on a new character design at the moment and will be posting different sections as I complete them over the next few weeks. Here is the first part, the armored arm.Inspired by a book I read recently, in which this scene plays out, I was inspired for to a quick sketch to visualize this world, so here it is.
This sketch is a new design for a series I am working on. He a fast moving scout which is mostly achieved by those little boosters bolted to the back of his legs.
One more monster roaming around Copenhagen for all you monster fans out there. This one is interested in some culture and decided to visit the iconic Opera House situated on Holmen just across the water from the palace.
